Lullaby Piano

As a piano player (I wouldn't really classify myself as a pianist...I'm not that good), I have always loved classical music, especially played on the piano.  Which is why I totally want to buy this album.  I'd also consider buying it just because, honestly, how beautiful is the album cover?

Hello Kitty

My daughter is always stealing my ipod - she loves music and is fascinated by the tiny little thing that lets her listen to all the songs she wants. Unfortunately she is not so gentle and is also known for unintentionally hiding things. This fun and functional Hello Kitty MP3 Player has been a good kid-friendly item that is completely hers. She gets to have fun "accessorizing" by changing the face plate and keeps herself entertained by bouncing and dancing to the music - this is very helpful on trips!

(Find one at any Toys 'R Us)

Comforting Sounds...

I remember being a brand new mother... Feeling the overwhelming love for this tiny bundle of joy. Wanting to do everything and anything i could to always make my baby happy... After a few sleepless nights of feeling unaccomplished and not knowing what to do to stop a crying baby, I found comfort in music... and so did my baby... I was relieved!
Here are some tunes from my play list to comfort and help sleep... It might not work all the time, but it sure helped me out!

"Fireflies" - Faith Hill
"I'll Stand By You" - Carrie Underwood
"Come Away With Me" - Norah Jones
"Daughters" - John Mayer
"Yellow" - Coldplay
"What a Wonderful World" - Louis Armstrong
"Godspeed" - Dixie Chicks
"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" - Elizabeth Mitchell & Lisa Loeb
"I Am Like A Star" - Amy Gileandi
"Beautiful Savior" - Becky Williams

These are just a few of my favorites... you can download them {and more} on iTunes. What are your favorites? Please leave a comment and share them with us! Thanks!

Leap Frog Learning DVDs

If your kids are going to be watching a DVD anyway, why not have them learn while they are at it. I bought these DVDs at the recommendation of my kids teacher and my kids and I both love them. This set of 5 includes: Talking Letter Factory, Talking Word Factory, Talking Word Factory II, Learn to Read at the Storybook Factory, and Math Circus. We have had them for less than a week and my kids are already singing about the letters, how to spell, and punctuation. The set of 5 is available from Amazon for $44.99, I got mine at my local Costco individually priced at $6.99.

Peter and the Wolf

Peter and the Wolf is a musical fairy tale in which each character is played by a different instrument of the orchestra . . .

Peter and the Wolf is quite simply a fabulous way to help your child develop an interest in classical music. This set comes with the book and a fully orchestrated and narrated CD, allowing for you and your child to get caught up in and enjoy the classic story with the benefit of the music written for it. You can find it at a local bookstore or library, or buy it here.

(In this version the duck escapes from the wolf's belly - if you are a purist it may not be for you! It is a little more kid friendly if that is what you are going for.)

The Muppets

Growing up, my family always watched a Muppet Christmas Carol and listened to John Denver & The Muppets: A Christmas Together during the holidays. It's so fun for me to reminisce and listen to the music now as an adult. I am definitely looking forward to getting my future kids hooked on fun holiday music like this! I highly recommend both--the Muppets are very fun for the kiddos, and I'm willing to bet that you parents will love it too! You can get both the movie and the music at Amazon.com.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

I remember watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and the Frosty the Snowman when I was a kid, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out they were selling the whole collection on DVD. I am sure these will be a hit with my kids and a family tradition we will pass down to them!

Get your kids moving

There is something about a warm house in the fall and winter that makes me feel like hibernating instead of exercising. I find the same is happening to my kids. So I found these darling CDs that get your kids moving all winter long! They have simple instructions in the songs that get them movin' and a shakin' . Have a look at the whole series here.

This would be such a fun addition to any playroom. It works as something fun for the individual or for a group of kids to play together. I think it is perfect to develop those rhythym and sound skills. The set comes with 8 note Xylobells, a wooden Xylophone, 2 Remo Drums, 3-Tone Chime and Cymbal, and you can get it here.

Signing Times

It is such a joy to watch my 18 month old tell me "more" with her hands. She looks so cute and I can't resist giving her what she is asking for. Signing is becoming a big thing, and for good reason. Children are able to communicate earlier when they learn sign language. This makes it easier for children and adults alike! My favorite signing videos are Signing Times. And a great way to have a preview is to check them out first at your local library.

Toddler Music

We love music at our house. We love to sing in the car, we boogie to music in our living room, and we are constantly singing. One of my girls most adored CDs is Toddler Favorites. It has all the classics with a little twist. They are catchy and are sure to keep your little ones entertained for hours! Amazon even has a music sampler. Our personal favorite is "Happy Birthday to You" in Kitty Cat!

White Noise

This CD is a life saver. I know many parents that have stayed up nights running the blow dryer, the vacuum cleaner, the bathroom faucet, static on the radio, anything to get their baby to sleep. There are sound machines you can buy that produce the same white noise, but why not utilize the CD player you already have, and pay a lot less by buying a CD. Just put on repeat and it lasts all through the night, without wearing out your carpet. Buy at Purewhitenoise.com
