Baby Slings

Being able to carry your baby while leaving your hands free is priceless. It is so nice to be able to get stuff done around the house or to be able to go for a walk or to the store without your cumbersome stroller. Baby number two or more makes a carrier even more of a must have!

With my first child I only used a Baby Bjorn, which I still love. With baby number two I found myself reaching for a sling, which I now consider a necessity. There is something about the closeness of a sling and the ability to adjust a baby's position based on what is most convenient for the activity. Some slings grow with your child: My almost 2-year old was having a clingy day and making it impossible for me to get dinner done. Her eyes lit up when I pulled out the sling, and she happily climbed in the hip position and we were able to make dinner together.

Thanks for posting about this! I'm due in May and know that I want to use a sling, but had no idea how to compare... the Mom4Life site was really helpful. If any readers have praise or helpful comments for particular types of slings I'd love to know!

I haven't bought anything yet, but I appreciate the help in deciding. Two other brands that I found online but don't know anything about are Bubsnug and Karma Baby...

I like my sling well enough, but didn't recommend it for a reason. It stays in place with a row of snaps rather than an adjustable ring-type thingy (how technical!) and while it was nice to have it permanently in place, there were many times that I would have liked to adjust it just a little bit to make it perfectly comfortable without having to remove it and completely change things. For that reason I would say go with something that might take a little longer to learn how to adjust to your liking because it will pay off as your baby is shifting constantly!

Good luck and congrats on your impending arrival! After you have had a chance to "review" your purchase, send us an email if it is a sling you love!

We'll have to feature them at a later date, but KangarooKorner.com is another great resource for slings and reviews/comparisons.
