We recently spent a magical evening dispersing lady bugs across our yard. The kids were in heaven, and our plants benefited from the pest-eating bugs. I didn't think that we would enjoy this more than last year's butterflies, but it was so simple and so much fun that I am tempted to pick up another set of ladybugs for one more amazing evening. Even if I don't I know the fun hasn't ended - now when we spot a lady bug in the yard every one of us grins and wonders if it is one of "ours!"

I love this idea! I had no idea you could buy lady bugs. Sounds like a great activity with your family too!
Great blog & photo! New blog on the Hx. of the Ladybug: http://historyoftheladybug.blogspot.com/
I think I need these! I would have never even thought about buying ladybugs for my garden! What is the nursery you bought them at? I've also read that lacewings are good for your garden too.
I bought mine from Habig's Garden Shop in Indianapolis.
I think I recently read something about sweet alyssum attracting lacewings and might have to give that a try next year. Thanks for the reminder!
