Summer Reading

Hopefully you and your little ones are reading heaps of books this summer. If you are like me you always go for your favorites, but it is nice to try something new.

Some of our new finds are Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity, written and illustrated Mo Willems and Henry's Freedom Box: A True Story from the Underground Railroad by illustrated by Kadir Nelson, written by Ellen Levine. Both of these are picture books that have won the Caldacott award this year. Knuffle Bunny is a book for everyone, and Henry's Freedom Box is more of a 6 to 10 year old book.

If your child is ready for more of a challenge and is into chapter books, a few of my favorite are Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech (anything by her is fabulous) and Wait til Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahl. Both are about a fourth grade level.

Enjoy reading this summer!
