While I was teaching Primary School in New Zealand I was introduced to Babette Cole books. They have splendid illustrations and very witty humor. She has a whole bunch of books to her name, but a few of our favorites are "Princess Smartypants" and "Dr. Dog."

dr. devon hale (infectious disease physician extraordinaire) introduced me to dr. dog when having dinner at his home once. now i give "dr.dog" to every friend possible - it is hilarious. my nephew loves it!
