Advent Calendars

My family always had advent calendars to count down the days until Christmas. They are such a great way to get your kids involved in the holiday, plus it can help in teaching them how to count. They also make for great traditions: my family had a cute little felt one where you stick an ornament on the tree each day, and once you were out of ornaments, it was Christmas! My mom would also make a candy chain with 25 sections; we would cut off a section each day until Christmas and we got to eat the candy.

Target has some very cute advent calendars--check them out here. You can find a few other inexpensive ones here. Or, gather up a bunch of candy, some cellophane and ribbon, and include the kiddos in making a personalized Christmas candy chain. Have fun counting down!!
