A quick fix

With a new baby in the house we are getting a little creative on how we decorate. I loved this idea I found on Nanny Goat on how to spruce up a boring dresser! So easy and so very cute.

molly-meg

Seeing good design in a miniature version can be even funner than seeing a full-size counterpart, which is why I am excited about the vintage children's chair collection at the new site molly-meg:

Molly–Meg is dedicated to bringing 20th Century Modern design icons to the world of children.

Specializing in designs from the 1950s to the present, Molly-Meg aims to show the best of contemporary design along with vintage classics, creating a perfect combination which kids will love and that will evoke nostalgia among parents.

I've been wishing for Bertoia Barstools for myself, so seeing a toddler Bertoia chair made my day.

A couple more favorites:

See currently-stocked chair designs here.

{Also check out her collection of vintage photos and children's objects.}

Blues and Greens

I know this isn't a child's space, but the colors and the set-up seemed so kid-friendly to me - wouldn't this make a great boy's room? Stick a changing pad on the dresser and it could grow with your baby from day one.

Simple Beds

Utilizing kid's beds for storage and keeping them against the wall leaves plenty of open room to play and create. This room reminds me of this set-up, and the look and usability of this approach is really growing on me.

Colors + Animals

Aren't these details great? It is a genius way of displaying stuffed animals.

Cork Walls + Flying Books

Setting cork into the wainscoting in this Craftsman bungalow was brilliant.
This might be the best idea ever for displaying daily art projects.

The flying books in this reading corner make me happy.

See more of this house here, and see how to make your own cork wall here.

Numbers

Photobucket
It is easy to get caught up in thinking you have to use kiddo-items to decorate a child's space. Why not use something that is also meant for adults to enjoy? These framed numbers are a great example, and could be easily duplicated.

*A random story involving labeling items as "adult" : We have referred to movies that are too "old" for my son as movies for adults. This worked fine until he opened one of our movie drawers in front of the man that was cleaning our chairs and declared "Wow! Look at all the adult movies!"

We need to come up with a new description asap...

So fun...

Photobucket

I am smitten with this nursery.

I'd like to spend an afternoon crawling over and through the window seat bench with my kiddos.

Spacious Room

I love the spacious simplicity of this room. It would be a great playroom where the kids could run around like crazy.

Trendy Peas

I've found another fantastic resource for alphabet prints! (remember how I am obsessed?) Trendy Peas has beautiful, contemporary wall art. Of course my eye went straight to the alphabet paintings, but I am also really drawn to the Olivia collection. Simple and gorgeous. See more here.

I'm pretty sure this is the coolest nightlight I've ever seen. And handmade to boot. Check out more here.

Alex by Serena & Lily

The Alex bedding looks fantastic as is, but paired with this room it is simply perfect. Serena & Lily has the most inspiring design ideas - check out more on their site or in their book.

On a side note, I have been trying to figure out the right blue for my kitchen and want to track down a sample of what they use in this room. It is very refreshing.

Framed Vintage Records

I really like the idea of framing records. They look so cool! We once framed a Cat Stevens album for my brother-in-law, and he loves it. Well, Chris from Pink Picket Fence framed her old childhood albums, matted with fabric, and I love the result. They would be so great in a vintage-inspired nursery or a playroom. I think I'll get all of the records from my mom's house and use them as art!

Wall Art

We recently moved, and I am still in the process of piecing together my daughter's room.  I bought a couple of prints (here and here) and am looking for a third to go in these frames.  I just can't decide!  I really love everything by Sarah Jane.  But I keep going back to alphabet prints.  These are my faves:

What do you think?  Do you have any favorite prints, or go-to vendors for things like this?

Fun On the Floor

I tend to think of carpet as being fairly plain and boring, but the UK company Fun on the Floor is making me rethink my position. These carpets could be fabulous in the right room, and they'd make any kiddo space so cheerful.
